In my first article about Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, NJ, I mentioned that we visited the boardwalk with my former neighbors who had moved back to New Jersey. They took us to one of their favorite restaurants in another town, then we walked the boardwalk for a while, stopping to let the kids play in the arcades. As we were walking the boardwalk, my friend kept pointing out little food places that we just HAD to try the next day.
I don’t think we even waited until the next day to try the first of them. We were told that you can’t visit the boardwalk without eating a funnel cake. Sure, no problem. No hard-selling needed there. We got one to share.
Was it better than any other funnel cake I’ve eaten? Probably not. Was it good though? I’ll let you figure that out after looking at the next picture. By the time I remembered to take a picture of it, this was what was left:
The next stop on our boardwalk culinary tour was Chippy’s French Fries.
We ordered their specialty: Fresh French Fries. They were fresh and good.
If you’re committed to eating junk food for a day, you’ve got to get some sweets in there. Jenkinson’s Sweet Shop is just the place to satisfy your sweet tooth. They’ve got large spiral lollipops, cotton candy, ice cream, and lots of other sweet treats in the shop.
For dinner we tried pizza at Little Mac’s.
The pizzas were premade with several different topping combinations. When you place an order, they heat up a slice for you. I don’t know if it was because it wasn’t made fresh or some other reason, but this was the one food I really didn’t care for on the boardwalk.
The last of our Boardwalk delicacies was Kohr’s Frozen Custard.
As you can see from the sign, Kohr’s is also known for their Orangeade. Other menus offered a variety of flavors of Italian Ice and homemade hand-dipped hard ice cream, but we decided to stick with soft-serve. Specifically, we all had the Orange Creme cone, a swirl of orange and vanilla frozen custard. Yum!
When I speak to groups of young moms, I always tell them that ice cream helps a bad adventure end well and a good adventure end better. That was certainly true for our visit to Jenkinson’s Boardwalk. Look at these smiling faces.
